Wintering Pacific Slope flycatcher at the San Diego Botanic Garden, Nov 19.
While doing a routine bird count at the SD Botanic Garden, Encinitas, Rita Campbell and I had an out-of-season PACIFIC SLOPE FLYCATCHER giving the upslurred tseeweep call. First heard in the area east of the gift shop, then later seen in the Australia Garden. Hope it sticks around for the RSF CBC. Two Western Tanagers were heard calling, probably two of the four seen in one small tree next to the cork oak area last Thursday (Nov 15). These four may the same Western Tanagers that have wintered here the last few years or so. We did not re-sight the out-of-season Bullock's Oriole last seen Nov 5, but it may still be around. An out-of-season WILSON's WARBLER continues in the Tropical Fruit Garden.
