Wilson’s Phalarope at the Stick Pond
On Sunday, October 14, there was a Wilson’s Phalarope at the Stick Pond. Visible swimming near a couple of Greater Yellowlegs, then on the muddy shore. Typical needle shaped bill, evenly gray back with white belly, no strong eye mark like a Red or Red-necked Phalarope. Many Greater Yellowlegs sized shorebirds but couldn’t see all clearly with binoculars through the vegetation, a scope would be better. Seen best from the gap on the Dairy Mart Road side just south of the Main Pond parking lot.
