White-winged Scoter

There is a female-type White-winged Scoter on Wednesday morning in the very large flock of Surf Scoters on the north side of the imperial Beach Pier.

In the imperial Beach Sports Park, there are at least three active Yellow-crowned Night-heron nests in the trees next to the bathrooms. Unfortunately, they recently totally cut down the two pine trees in front of the first adjoining apartment building where most of the Yellow-crowneds spent all winter every year….
