White-crowned x Golden-crowned Sparrow hybrid, Mission Trails Dam

Birders might be interested in an apparent hybrid White-crowned x Golden-crowned Sparrow I photographed bathing in the river just downstream (west) of the Mission Trails dam this morning, viewed from the north bank.The bird is superficially like a White-crowned but with a strong yellow central crown stripe, and yellow above the lores. The black stripe behind the eye is more extensive than in most White-crowns. It didn’t call or sing while I watched it.
