TWO Nelson’s Sparrows at San Elijo

TWO Nelson’s Sparrows at San Elijo

By {authorlink} – 1:28 pm

Passing on news from visiting birder Curtis Marantz today that there are TWO Nelson’s Sparrows together at the known site at San Elijo Lagoon. Seen together simultaneously. He says there is a slight difference in the boldness of the flank streaking, if one wishes to compare photos.
In other news, a singing, territorial American Robin has been present most of this month immediately to the south of the Bird & Butterfly Garden in the TRV, which is south of normal breeding areas, but where a pair was seen in late May 2018. A pair of nest-building Lark Sparrows are bordering w. Montgomery Field, which is just slightly west of the normal breeding range.
