Tricolored Heron new location, Townsends Warbler glut

9:56 am

Monday morning fairly early at high tide, the adult Tricolored Heron had moved appreciably south and was working along the tidal channel bordering the salt works, first at the end of 13th and then it moved west and was right off the end of 8th. Time will tell if it ever returns to J Street or not, more at low tide. At J Street there’s a lingering female Lesser Scaup. Two Redheads continue at Sweetwater Reservoir, and the singing American Robin south of usual continues bordering the Bird and Butterfly Garden.

On Sunday morning I attempted to count somewhere around 60-70 Townsends Warblers on Point Loma, mostly in the residential area centered around Dupont. Also reasonable numbers of Hermits and Yellows and Wilsons. Most in a couple particularly large roving mixed flocks.
