Townsend's Solitaire at Buddy Todd Park, Nov 7

Today, on the subject date,  the Wednesday birders, including our Florida member, Ann Hannon,  went to Buddy Todd Park in Oceanside.  Two Western Tanagers were seen well in the large ficuses previously reported as a hangout for the Scarlet Tanager, and although some of us got brief glimpses of what could have been the SCTA reported previously, many of us missed it for sure.  But at about 0810 there was a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE feeding in one of the large ficus/fig trees north of the grassy knoll east (and adjacent to) the  parking lot,  and west of volley ball court. While trying to refind it, it was re-sighted in the open perched on a bare  eucalyptus snag on north side of nearby metal fenceline. Elongated gray bird with long tail, small bill, pale eye ring, buffy wing patch, erect posture. I dont think this bird has been reported before here.  A Merlin was also perched nearby with a fresh kill in its talons.
