Tijuana River Estuary Birds November 17
As noted by Paul Lehman yesterday, the Reddish Egret continues at the Tijuana River Estuary this morning, the Pacific Golden Plover was sitting on a sandbar with many other shorebirds close to the western edge. A Brown Booby was diving offshore with the Brown Pelicans at about 8:00, a female Black Scoter was the closest scoter to the beach at about 9:50 north of the river mouth, in a flock of 110+ Surf Scoters. Walking back north towards the end of Seacoast Drive I saw a Short-eared Owl hunting and soaring over the wetlands. It landed on a berm on the east side at about 10:00. An all together good morning in Imperial Beach.
