Tierrasanta Painted Redstart back for winter #5
The Painted Redstart in Tierrasanta is back for its 5th winter around the power substation entrance along Tierrasanta Blvd. just east of Tambor. Unfortunately, they are still in the midst of some sort of construction project at the station, so even already at 6:30 in the morning there is a bunch or truck noise etc. around the entrance–although I still had the bird there today at 6:30 AM despite the disturbance. Right side of gate. The bird is probably still roosting in those dense trees or in the oaks just below. A Sunday AM visit, or perhaps late in the day, might be best.
Just a little farther to the east, Tierrasanta Blvd. ends, and just 100 yards before that is a view to the right over part of Admiral Baker Golf Course and a pond. With a scope, there are 2 Greater White-fronted Geese and 2 Vermilion Flycatchers around the pond. All long staying.
