Sweetwater Reservoir: two new Neotropics, Elegant, four Pectorals

7:23 am

At the upper end of Sweetwater Reservoir Saturday morning, there are two new adult Neotropic Cormorants with the Double crests, cavorting with each other, including squabbling and preening and pulling at willow branches, though something tells me they’re a bit late for the party. Also a rare inland Elegant Tern there. At the bottom end of the lake, a group of four Pectoral Sandpipers flew by, but apparently they didn’t like what they saw and they simply kept going. Maybe it will turn into a fairly good fall for Pectorals?
