Sunset ball fields, Verdin; but no Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
I was at Sunset ball fields Wednesday morning looking unsuccessfully for the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher; but did see an adult Verdin on the eastern edge of the easternmost gravel parking lot at the ball field complex. Tiny, light gray songbird with yellow head and chestnut shoulder patch. Seen well at close range and also heard the rapid, monotone, chipping call. Was also able to see the Little Stint at the usual spot later in the morning (about 0945).
