Sunday White-winged tern, Wednesday frigatebird

7:52 am

Arrived Sunday at the end of J Street at around 7:25 a.m. and immediately saw the White-winged tern. A bit to the right or northwest of the submerged oyster balls. And actually doing a fair amount of feeding in the water up against the marsh vegetation as well as sitting on what little bit of exposed mud there is. The tide is quite a bit higher than it’s been the last few mornings.

Before departing on yesterday’s pelagic trip, I talked with Captain Brian of the New Seaforth fishing boat and he showed me video that he and his crew had taken of a young Magnificent Frigatebird circling around their boat a mile off Point Loma this past Wednesday. They even flung bait fish at it which it grabbed out of the air.
