Summer Tanager in Encinitas

This morning I added a lovely new yard bird when a summer tanager perched on a large lemonadeberry for a few moments around 10 AM. Merlin picked up the call on Saturday but I wasn’t able to locate it at the time. This individual is a bright male with all-over red and a large, light bill. It was seen at the southwestern-most residence on Jackie Lane and may be foraging in the flower eucalyptus grove on the property immediately to the east.
