Stilt Sandpiper and phalaropes
On Friday morning, the salt works pond that is one-third to one-half mile east along the bike trail from the end of 13th Street in Imperial Beach has been drawn down and has 2500 shorebirds on it, including a breeding plumaged Stilt Sandpiper, as well as some 80 Wilson's Phalaropes and a hundred red-necked phalaropes. I am still scanning through all the Western Sandpipers trying to find something better….
