Stilt Sandpiper and Lesser Yellowlegs at Kendall-Frost
11:24 pm
A photo review proved that all seven birds in question were Lesser Yellowlegs… but also revealed that there was an eighth bird traveling with the group. This bird appears to be a Stilt Sandpiper, slightly smaller than the Lessers and overall quite similar at a distance except its long decurved bill and complete white supercilium.
Sorry to all for not catching this sooner. I’m hoping this group of birds will return to the marsh tomorrow morning! And keep an eye out for STSAs amongst yellowlegs flocks, it would seem.
