Sightings of species of interest this morning in closed portions of South San Diego Bay – posted since likely viewable from other areas:
Black scoter, female – off WSW end of Chula Vista Wildlife Reserve – likely to show up off J St or Coronado Cays.
Common goldeneye, 1 male, 7 female – in W pond 20 – viewable from bikepath between Main St & 13th.
American flamingo, escapee – in Emory Cove.
Lesser yellowlegs – with 4 greater yellowlegs in SE pond 20 (west of dirt pile) – viewable from bikepath between Main St & 13th.
(Little stint NOT seen – tide was dropping & most peeps were shifting to bayshore; only birds on SW pond 23 island NE of 8th St were 5 ring-billed gulls).
Caspian tern – on N shore of saltworks – likely to show up off J St, IB, or Strand.
Glaucous-winged gull, 1st winter – along N shore of saltworks – likely to show up off J St.
Large-billed savannah sparrow, at least 3 – at Chula Vista Wildlife Reserve.
