some new rarities, and some high rarity totals this fall
This morning, Tuesday, there was a new Black-and-white Warbler at the Four Points Sheraton bordering Montgomery Field, and two continuing Pacific Golden-Plovers were on “stint island” at the salt works at high tide in the Black-bellied flock. Also, alas on private property, single new Blackburnian, Tennessee, and Palm Warblers were found elsewhere.
The recent mini-surge in Blackburnians brings this fall’s total in the county to a hefty 8 birds, and today’s new Tennessee brings the season’s total to a hefty 22 individuals. The new, female Broad-billed Hummingbird in the Willrick yard brings that species’ season total to a record FIVE birds. The season’s Lucy’s Warblers are now at a record 10 birds. And the October total of Palm Warblers stands at 11.
