Solitary Sandpiper South Dairy Mart Pond
Hi all,
I just got to the south pond on Dairy Mart Road where the Northern Waterthrush has been recently. When I walked up, I heard a Sandpiper call that I thought sounded like a Solitary. 30 seconds later it took off flying north, hopefully to the main pond on Dairy Mart Road. Birders already present (Sia McGown, Albert Linkowski) have pictures. Separated from Spotted by the loud, resonant call, darker back, and black horizontal stripes on the tail. No dice on the waterthrush yet, but I’ve been here for only a few minutes.
