This past weekend we went out to Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary, excited to see the Western Screech Owl that had recently returned for yet another summer.  We asked Phil, the resident caretaker, where we could see the owl and he told us that sadly, the previous weekend (May 1st) “two guys with big cameras” had been taking photos for an extended period of time and getting really close, until the owl until it flew off, and he hasn’t been seen since.  He doesn’t feel confident that the owl will return.  If you were planning on going to Silverwood to see this cutie, I would advise you to call beforehand to find out if he has come back.  And if he does come back, please keep a respectful distance between you and the owl at all times.Marcie Mason
