Shearwaters, etc. – N. Torrey Pines

10:44 am

Adding to Stan‘s post about the scene at La Jolla Dec. 27, there are as of 10:30 a.m. thousands of Black-vented Shearwaters (plus many many gulls, terns, pelicans, loons, grebes, and cormorants) feeding and/or rafting very close to shore at North Torrey Pines Beach, about where the railroad tracks cross under Hwy 101. The flock stretches from roughly 9th Street in Del Mar southward to Penasquitos Creek mouth.
