Shearwater swarms Friday morning

Shearwater swarms Friday morning
By {authorlink} – 7:19 am

For those possibly interested in looking through the thousands of black vented shearwaters for a manx or two, unfortunately the thousands of birds have shifted slightly north, but more importantly they are just slightly farther offshore than yesterday. So many of the flocks are just too far to effectively search them for Manx. Some are close enough but it’s a minority. The best vantage points to see them this morning are Powerhouse Park and Jake’s restaurant in northern Del Mar and the beach access stairway off Del Mar Shores Terrace in southern Solana Beach. Hopefully things will shift around during the day and move closer in, somewhere. There are also plenty of red-throated loons scattered up and down the entire shoreline here.
