Semi Sand, W-w Dove, fall arrivals
On 17 August, there was a juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper at the salt works on S San Diego Bay. Whether or not this is the same bird seen a few days earlier by Patton & Squires is anyone's guess. Also a small flock of fall-arrival Northern Shovelers. Today, the the 18th, there was a White-winged Dove on Point Loma, where also a now- somewhat rare and declining Costa's Hummingbird. At the San Diego River mouth there was a fall-arrival JUVENILE Red Knot, an arrival Belted Kingfisher, and the continuing Reddish Egret. Yesterday there, J. Bruin had 4 fall-arrival Blue-winged Teal.
