SDFO meeting is WEDNESDAY, 17 APRIL, at 6 pm
Our meeting is NOT our usual Tuesday night this month.
Please come join us on Wednesday, April 17, at 6:00 p.m., in the Hoffman Room of the San Diego Foundation Building, 2508
Historic Decatur Rd. (Directions: Head south on Rosecrans St. in the Midway area of town, turn left on Roosevelt Rd. into Liberty Station and proceed a couple of blocks to Decatur. Parking is available on the street or in the adjacent parking lots.)
This month's program features Matthew Binns discussing “Birding The Gambia.” His talk will describe a recent visit in Nov/Dec 2018, the highlights of which included a great variety of birds of prey and the stunningly colorful bee-eaters, rollers, kingfishers and estrildids.
Matthew Binns is an English molecular biologist specializing in thoroughbred racehorse performance. He's made Southern California his home for the past ten years. He began birding at a very young age, identifying birds from his father’s boat as they trawled for fish off the Yorkshire coast, then progressed through membership of the Young Ornithologists Club to the Royal Society for the Protection
of Birds. He is a keen photographer and has traveled extensively to photograph more than 1600 bird species worldwide.
Next month’s meeting is back to its usual day: Tuesday, May 21. In that program, John Martin will talk about the San Diego National Wildlife Refuges.
Unpaid dues are still welcome. Please bring a check (payable to SDFO) or cash. Single memberships are $25; family are $35.
