SD River mudflat access
While attempting to observe shorebirds on the mudflats this morning along with a birder from the Bay Area, we were appalled to see a dozen or more people slogging their way through the entire channel along with their dogs — laughing and clapping as their pitbulls tore after egrets, herons and godwits. Because of this ongoing pandemic, I have birded the majority of the year in Oregon, where even many community parks forbid dogs for the benefit of wildlife, so my views are skewed I know, but geez.
Aren’t there signs instructing people to stay out as you walk “upriver” from Dog Beach? Is there anything we can do?
