Saturday Bird Festival Pelagic Trip totals
The San Diego Bird Festival pelagic trip on Saturday, 29 Feb, aboard the "New Seaforth" enjoyed light seas (light chop, no swell) and some nice feeding concentrations of both birds and marine mammals. Totals for species OFFSHORE only (and on jetties) were:

Black Turnstone: 2
Red Phalarope: 4
Pomarine Jaeger: 1
Scripps's Murrelet: 18
Heermann's Gull: 15
California Gull: 450
Western Gull: 600
Royal Tern: 5
Red-throated Loon: 1
Pacific Loon: 4
Common Loon: 1
Northern Fulmar: 35 (very good year for this species off southern CA)
Black-vented Shearwater: 1300
Brown Booby: 9 (good count)
Brown Pelican: 180
Double-crested Cormorant: 1
Brandt's Cormorant: 15
Pelagic Cormorant: 1
