San Diego Pelagic Birding trip, Saturday June 8, 2024

2:51 pm

Hello Birders,

This coming Saturday June 8th. is the second of this year’s pelagic birding scheduled trips sponsored by Buena Vista Audubon.
The trip departs from Seaforth Landing in San Diego’s Mission Bay.
Those of you that are signed up for the trip please be at the landing and ready to check in to the office between 6 and 6:15 a.m. Once that’s done please meet on the patio for boat manifest (mandatory) , and the shared eBird (optional) sign in, and the orientation.
Parking is free, but will be tight. Be sure that you are in the parking lot in front of the Seaforth Landing building or on the street.
Be aware All other lots to the east and west are permit only and may tow your vehicle ! if you unsure check with the landings staff or our volunteer leaders once you arrive
We will board about  6:40-6:45.
The current weather and sea’s forecast for Saturday is good. Remember even if it’s overcast to come prepared with sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Stay hydrated during the day, and if you do motion remedies take them before boarding. I recommend layers of clothing as it can be cool in the morning and quite warm in the afternoon offshore.
We have a light load on this trip, so would encourage anyone wishing to join us, to sign up on
You can see trip details, past trip reports, and future dates at
Last year’s June trip was epic for Cook’s Petrels. Every trip is different, and bird species and numbers can change day to day, much less year to year. One can always hope. Regardless, it is always an adventure .
Then if not signed on, and Saturday morning comes around and you get that sudden urge to go. Show up by 6 a.m. and see me.
BTW, the July 14th. trip has a single space left, if you wish to join us on that trip, I won’t wait!!
I hope I see you out there.
Good Birding,
Dave Povey
