On Sunday the 16th, a wintering Pacific Golden-Plover and Wilson’s Phalarope continue at the Salt Works off the end of 13th Street, the plover near high tide with the good-sized flock of Black-bellieds and Red Knots. As is typical in latter April, a young Glaucouds-winged and a couple Herring Gulls continue at J Street, as do a couple pretty alternate-plumaged Horned Grebes on the Bay, where also ca. 150 Greater and 90 Lesser Scaup continue. A Reddish Egret continues floating around several sites on the South Bay as well. In the ocean along the SilverStrand/Coronado there are about 2000 Western Grebes.
Also on Sunday, C. A. Marantz reports the presumably continuing Black-and-white Warbler at Harry Griffen Park–singing adult male in the grove of oak trees near the entrance (west side) of the dog run.
