Returning Painted Redstart for 6th year, Palm Warbler

4:32 pm

The Painted Redstart at the Tierrasanta substation on Tierrasanta Boulevard was finally refound today by Robert Patton, following several failed attempts by yours truly, making it now 6 years that the bird has been returning to that site for the winter. Please refrain from blasting recordings at it.

The Tierrasanta Hepatic Tanager continues on private property, but so far I’ve been unable to find where it is roosting at night. Probably best for people who want to see a male to try for the bird in Wing Street Canyon.

This morning, I had a new Palm Warbler in the extreme northeast corner of Fort Rosecrans Cemetery, generally associating with a few Yellow rumpeds and a couple kinglets.
