Red-throated Pipit – Torrey Hills Park

12:55 pm

Did a quick lap around Torrey Hills Park yesterday around 4:00pm. Saw 3 pipits in the grass on the baseball fields (32°55’06.43″N 117°13’21.16″W) and didn’t think much of them until I was looking at the pictures today and noticed the bold, extensive streaking across the breast and sides as well as streaking on the crown. It also had a well-defined pale supercilium. I reached out to Paul L. who agreed that these features point to red-throated rather than American. Could be worth checking out.
