Red necked Grebe back yet again at Shelter Island

Wednesday morning, the Red-necked Grebe is back for yet another winter, now four or five years running, in San Diego Bay at Shelter Island. Currently near the north end of Shelter Island next to the Bali Hi, although in past years it can easily swim up and down the entire length of the “island” and even go across to the other side of the bay in Coronado.
Also this morning, along the east flank of residential Point Loma there was a female Summer Tanager with two Western Tanagers at Kellogg X San Fernando.
Yesterday, at De Anza Cove on Mission Bay, there was a female Vermilion Flycatcher, which could easily be one of the birds from the adjoining golf course nesting area.
