Red Crossbill at Laguna Mtns — Agua Dulce Creek

I, along with Kenny and Dave Kimbrough, saw one of the Red Crossbills previously reported by Manolo Turner and Gary Nunn, at the same location along the creek, at a birdy spot about 200-300 yards before reaching the Y in the access road (when coming from the parking lot). Female or immature male. Photos clearly show the crossed bill. Mostly drab brown with some yellow on flanks and rump. Seen at 9:50 a.m. It did not sing or call, and flew off after 1 to 2 minutes. We went on to the Y, then returned to the spot where we sighted it, but did not see it again or hear any calls. I had been to that location earlier in the morning, but did not see or hear it.

We also saw warblers: Wilson's, Black-throated Gray, Orange-crowned, Townsend's, and MacGillivray's, and I saw a Hermit.

The Kimbroughs saw Mountain Quail from the trail below the pump house, where the narrow trail following the creek meets the access road.
