Alison refound the bird about 11:15, and we watched it and photographed it for about 45 minutes. We don't think it ever flew off. It simply sat still and became quite difficult to spot in the dappled light. It was in the northern-most tree next to the bleachers on the west side of the big grassy area next to the baseball field. Well camouflaged, silent, and rarely moving, so with bare eyes it mostly looked like a lump on a tree branch. It occasionally grabbed a berry and struggled to swallow it.

A merlin flew over at that time as well.
