I am also getting a lot of Vesper Sparrow and Pine Siskin hits in areas where aren’t normally found very regularly. Interesting to note the Pine Siskin are coming up when I have Lesser Goldfinches in the area so that’s good to know your neighbor pinpointed the issue. I guess the little brief zipper like sounds the goldfinches make could be mistaken for Pine Siskin by Merlin. It is fun to use just to see what crazy birds it comes up with, but for the most part it’s pretty good. You are absolutely right though! Beginners beware!
