I’ve had the good fortune of seeing hummingbirds copulate a few times. It’s a graceful but quick event- female perches with tail up and male touches down briefly on her back for a “cloacal kiss”

ive also seen more than a few hummingbird territorial tussles where one bird chases down the other and latches on with bill, feet or both and the two birds spinning to the ground.

your photo sequence looks very much like the latter to me.
