Re: Broad-billed Hummingbird – Golden Hill

6:32 pm

Hello All,

The BROAD-BILLED HUMMINGBIRD is still present at dusk.
About 10 birders came by to visit this afternoon and all are welcome. Please write to me directly, text is preferred. It is settling down for the night just outside my office.

Long slightly curved bill with red at base, strong
contrast between pale stripe behind eye and dark cheek. Likely juvenile or female type – will check photos. Coming to feeders in yard, feeding on yellow flowering vine (Thunbergia alata), and loafing in the large tree at the front of the cottage complex stairs,
adjacent unit A. Constantly chased by neighborhood bully, “Sarge” (Allen’s Hummingbird). Putting up more feeders tomorrow and will report on listserv if it is seen in the morning. My neighbors have all been alerted to the presence of birders with large cameras,
you are all welcome in the cottage courtyard.

Good Birding,
Lindsay Willrick
