Purple Martin flyby at FRNC
I birded Fort Rosecrans for a couple hours this morning. Migration is definitely starting to pick up — I had numerous migrants including Western Tanager, Black-headed Grosbeak, Townsend's and MagGilivray's Warblers, Western Kingbirds, and Western Wood-Pewees. I also saw the two White-breasted Nuthatches that have been around. The real highlight of the morning was a flyby Purple Martin, seen from the northwest section. I spotted it as it was flying south, low, with some Barn Swallows. It passed over, stopping to circle a couple of trees, but kept going out of sight. All in all, it was in view for about 30 seconds to a minute. I was able to get some decent pictures of it as it went by. eBird checklist here: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S48214699
Will be adding pictures when I have time.
