Pt. Loma – Parulas, Tennessee

12:04 pm

This morning a little after 8 am, I had a NORTHERN PARULA along the east edge of the Point Loma Nazarene University campus, a little north of the Garden Ln entrance. After giving brief looks it flew east into the neighborhood and I was unable to relocate it.

A little later, in the alley between DuPont and Pio Pico the Northern Parula reported by Jim Pawlicki also continued, singing almost nonstop. As I was waiting for it to come into the open for better looks, a TENNESSEE WARBLER briefly emerged on a lower branch of the same tree.

I also had two OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS, one near the PLNU parking garage and the other near DuPont and Silvergate. Overall, good numbers of Wilson’s, Townsend’s, Yellow’s, and Warbling Vireos, as well as several Hermit Warblers.
