On Weds the 21st, a returning (for fourth year?) Plumbeous Vireo is in a tipu neighborhood in Serra Mesa, and a returning Hermit Warbler (also for fourth year?) is also a tipu-regular, rather than frequenting pines, in the nearby Stonebridge neighborhood. Late yesterday, there was an adult male Vermilion Flycatcher at the pond in Jacumba, where rare in winter, and where also a veritable orgy of “waterfowl” also on the small pond for one’s all-important Jacumba list: 4 Canvasbacks, 3 Ring-necked Ducks, 3 Am. Wigeon, 3 Mallards, a Gadwall, a Coot, and a Pied-billed Grebe.
The running county total of December White-throated Sparrows currently sits at THIRTY-FOUR. And the likewise Summer Tanager total is at about THIRTY-TWO.
