new Orchard Oriole, misc.

9:51 am

Tuesday morning there’s a new Orchard Oriole in town, this one a young male hanging out with a wintering duo of Bullocks Orioles at Sunnyslope Park at the border between Otay Mesa and Nestor. At the sod farm area in the TRV there is the continuing Laughing gull and two Short billed gulls and two Lesser yellowlegs. And at the San Ysidro outlet mall parking lot there is a pair of Vermilion flycatchers which were copulating and the male doing the display flight. This would be a new nesting site, I believe. At the TRV community gardens, a total of 30 American Goldfinches is a good count for late winter or spring.
