Neotropic & Semipalmated
Monday morning there is a Neotropic Cormorant sitting on the boom near the dam at Sweetwater Reservoir with 30 Double-cresteds. Interestingly, it looks like an adult, as best I can tell given the distance, whereas the two birds nearby recently at Morrison Pond were both immatures, right? I did stop there as well this morning and only had an immature double-crested.
The Sweetwater Reservoir fishing access area at the southeast corner of the lake finally opened up again this weekend for the first time since March. Open on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday only.
Yesterday, I had a juvenile Semipalmated Sandpiper with over 3000 Western sandpipers at the salt works. The pond they were on should be too dry today. Also yesterday were the first juvenile semipalmated plovers of the season, and on Saturday we had the first juvenile Short billed dowitcher of the season.
