More Lewis’s Woodpeckers
I observed six Lewis’s Woodpeckers while hiking along S-7 on Palomar Mountain yesterday (11/3). All six birds were fly-catching from a large, dead-looking tree in Dyche Valley. The birds were not close to the road and, unfortunately, there arefew places to pull a car over along this stretch of road. Some other birds I noted in the valley included a single Mountain Bluebird, Pine Siskins, and a White-tailed Kite.
