miscellanea & La Jolla

By – 10:25 am
A morning check of La Jolla today, Weds, produced a scarce-in-winter Sooty Shearwater present much of the morning, one lingering Northern Fulmar, about 500 Black-vented Shearwaters, a distant flock of 5 southbound Cassin’s Auklets, several distant jaegers, and 4 continuing Black Oystercatchers. On 14 Feb, a Hepatic Tanager continues on private property in Tierrasanta, as does an adult male Vermilion Flycatcher on Admiral Baker Golf Course (as viewed from end of Tierrasanta Boulevard). And on 13 Feb, the female Baltimore Oriole continued at the entrance to the San Diego Zoo, with 4 Bullock’s Orioles (1 adult male, 3 females) and 2 Western Tanagers, that day at 7:30AM in the blooming coral behind the administration building.–Paul Lehman, San Diego
