Misc. County Birding/Rarities from today
Hello!
I guided a young birder from Chicago around today and had quite good luck. We started off early up in the mountains where we had a few Pinyon Jays (it seems as if we missed the larger flock by a bit). We then went down to Seacoast Drive and walked to the river mouth, having a quite high count of Snowy Plovers (110! We have photos of the group), picking up the Pacific Golden-Plover right by the mouth, a few jaegers (presumably parasitic) ~100 feet from shore, and two Brown Boobies. We also swung by San Diego River to pick up the (returning?) Tricolored Heron there.
Good Birding
