This morning just after 7 am at upper San Dieguito Park, the continuing magnolia warbler was seen (and heard calling), this time in cape honeysuckle at the south end of the parking lot, adjacent to the gate to the maintenance yard & residence to the east of the “tot lot”. At San Elijo Lagoon, the continuing female greater scaup was near a female lesser scaup in the channel east of the freeway, south of Manchester Ave, and southwest of Mira Costa College.  The continuing male Eurasian Wigeon was visible about 200yd west of I-5 around 9:45 am in scoping from Manchester Ave – it was in the SE portion of the central basin so actually closer to the trail east from Rios Ave.At least one to two parasitic jaegers and a fair number of black-vented shearwaters and Brandt’s cormorants were shifting around offshore and still visible from South Cardiff State Beach as late as 11 am to noon (but alas, no alcids or rarer species picked out).Robert PattonSan Diego, CA
