Lewis’s Woodpecker in Rose Canyon 12/19/21

We found a Lewis’s Woodpecker in Rose Canyon this morning at 10:30 am.  It was still present at 11:15 am.It was north of the main trail, about 300 meters west of the trail off Regents Road/Lahitte Ct in south UC.  Approximately 32.8554, -117.2228 (I didn’t have my phone with me so I’m estimating from Google maps).Perched on tall dead sycamores and the remains of a dead palm tree.  Flying around a bit, but mostly perched.Big woodpecker, pink front and underparts, gray collar and dark glossy green back.Charley Herzfeld University City
