Lewis's Woodpecker bonanza

This morning (10/16) at Lake Wohlford we had two Lewis's Woodpeckers pass by high overhead, heading roughly west. This makes SIX total Lewis's Woodpeckers that I have seen in the Valley Center area just in the past week. So far, all of these Valley Center birds have been passing by fairly high overhead, and I have not seen any linger in the area.  

Two more birds perched on fence posts near Lake Henshaw makes a total of eight separate Lewis's we've had just this week. Presumably this is an omen that it will be a good year for them, so keep your eyes peeled!
