Laguna Williamson's sapsucker
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
At noon today (11/26/20) I found a male WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER along the trail from the 19 mile marker trailhead (Sunrise Highway). It was along the most direct trail to the "Evening grosbeak" concrete water trough, about 150 yards before the gate with the metal ramp (cattle discourager). I heard it tapping halfway up a large pine on the south side of the trail.
