La Jolla today (Black & White-winged Scoters) and tomorrow

La Jolla today (Black & White-winged Scoters) and tomorrow

By – 10:05 am

This morning at La Jolla, in slightly offshore SE winds, approx. 10 observers saw only one tubenose–a single Northern Fulmar–but an OK flight of southbound Surf Scoters produced two separate Black Scoters and one White-winged Scoter. Small numbers of loons, a few Bonaparte’s Gulls, and the usual four Black Oystercatchers. Strongest winds are supposed be later today, and from the SW, but before midnight. But the hope is that there will still be some residual wind and birds first thing early tomorrow morning, although it sounds like lighter winds continuing than with the previous storm.
