La Jolla Cove, March 7

At the Cove at the moment. Been here 3 minutes. Thousands of gulls everywhere, blanketing the ocean, including at least 3000 on the beaches at La Jolla Shores. Worth checking for rarities. Massive movement of California gulls coming from the south.
At least 5000 black-vented shearwaters in the kelp beds.
Huge numbers of pelicans and cormorants on the cliffs.
