La Jolla Cove, June 6: pigeon guillemot
The Cove has been pretty quiet for the past week. Declining numbers of storm-petrels, though at least 2 Ashies were present this morning, seen from the viewing spot just south of Ellen Scripps Browning Park.
A handful of black-vented shearwaters and 1 sooty shearwater this morning.
Numbers of northward bound Heermann’s gulls are increasing but still small.
Best bird was an alternate plumaged pigeon guillemot, seen flying south 100 yards offshore,
right on schedule.
Winds for today and tomorrow are propitious for others to fly by.
